Around ninety participants, as many as the available places, brought the Ferrara Technopole to life for "Tecnopoli in scena – Battiti di scienza", an event that on September 15th led the public to discover the spaces and activities of the Science and Technology Pole through an unprecedented dialogue between research and artistic performance.

After an initial institutional focus, the event gave way to the curiosity and participation of the public, who were taken on a journey through some of the Technopole's most significant sites.

The afternoon began with institutional greetings from Stefano Manfredini, Deputy Pro-Rector of the University of Ferrara; Vincenzo Colla, Vice-President of the Emilia-Romagna Region; Chiara Scaramagli, Councilor of the Municipality of Ferrara; and Isaura Lopes Ramos, Programme Manager of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, who were connected from Brussels. Angela Princi, Manager of the Ferrara Technopole, introduced the event.

The day focused on RINNOVATECH, the project that has enabled the technological upgrade of the Technopole laboratories, presented by Professor Enrico Bracci, Vice-Rector for the Third Mission at the University of Ferrara. A video featured the four scientific directors of the Technopole laboratories, who described the newly acquired equipment and the opportunities it opens up for the laboratories, highlighting the value of new technologies and the services the Technopole can offer to research and businesses.

But it was the encounter with art that transformed the visit into an experience, thanks to the artists of Collettivo CineticO and the invaluable support of Danza Urbana.

The first event took the audience into the evocative Agorà of the Scientific and Technological Center, where “Dialogo Terzo: In a Landscape”, a hula hoop dance performance set to the music of John Cage, took place. A poetic and suspended dimension introduced the audience to a different way of looking at research spaces, creating an initial dialogue between body, movement, and environment.

The tour continued in the anechoic chamber, one of the Tecnopolo's most distinctive spaces and among those that most impressed the participants. The audience was divided into two groups, which alternated between the scientific explanation of the environment, led by Professors Patrizio Fausti and Nicola Prodi, and the performance "Let the Potassium Tremble".

In the perfect silence of the anechoic chamber, lined with sound-absorbing material that prevents sound from propagating, Francesca Pennini performed, transforming movement into a sort of visible score; the sound moved with her around the audience. It was a particularly moving experience, allowing us to perceive this research space from a completely new perspective.

The final moment took place in the buffet area, where the audience became an integral part of the performance "I x I No, we will not destroy the Ferrara Tecnopolo". Using a console, spectators were able to determine the performers' movements and guide three blind-folded young people in mapping the space, thus becoming protagonists of the action. A convivial moment dedicated to meeting and sharing among participants, in an informal atmosphere, concluded the day.

The three performances took the audience on a journey through the Tecnopolo, showcasing its spaces and technologies from a new perspective. Art and science met not as separate worlds, but as languages ​​capable of dialoguing and offering new interpretations of the same places.

"Battiti di scienza" is part of Tecnopoli in scena, a festival promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region to accompany the opening of the Tecnopolo to the local community and bring the public closer to research sites through new and engaging ways.
