"Ferrara si fa in 4 (R)": a initiative combining innovation and sustainability

The future of our planet depends on small daily actions and great international collaborations. On May 15, 2026, starting at 4:00 PM, the TekneHub Laboratory of the Ferrara Technopole will open its doors for “Ferrara si fa in 4 (R)” , an initiative dedicated to green living and environmental awareness.
The initiative comes from the European University Alliance COLOURS (Collaborative innOvative sUstainable Regional univerSities), a network of nine European universities, including Unife, united by the aim of transforming their regions through innovation, sustainability and inclusion.
The event is based on four key principles for reducing our impact on the world:
Reduce: consume less and consume better
Repair: give old things a new lease of life
Reuse: fight against single-use products
Recycle: turn waste into resources.
The highligh of the afternoon will be an interactive journey combining high technology with best household practices. Young and adult will have the opportunity to explore cutting-edge solutions and test their skills in hands-on workshops.
What to expect at TekneHub:
Agriculture of the Future: a guided tour of the CIAS hydroponic greenhouse (Interdepartmental Center for Advanced Research in High-Sterility Environments), a local center of excellence managed in collaboration with Armonia and Aquaponic Design.
Daily Challenges: learning how to correctly sort household waste through interactive games organized by Gruppo Hera.
Food and Awareness: workshops on sustainable food and the quiz "How much do we know about sustainable food?" featuring dietitian Chiara Carpanelli, alongside volunteers from Plastic Free and Difesa Ambientale Estense.
Sustainable Snack: at the end of the activities, there will be a chance to socialise, exchange ideas and strengthen the sense of community whilst enjoying a selection of food products produced using sustainable resources.

A Great Network for the Environment
The "Ferrara si fa in 4 (R)" initiative is the result of a synergy between institutions and associations: from the University of Ferrara to ARMONIA, with the support of the Municipality of Ferrara, Gruppo Hera, Aquaponic Design, and many other technical and social partners.

The event is open to everyone , from children to adults. Participation is free, but places are limited. Registration is required to attend the event; you can sign up following the link.
