The 2026 Restoration Days have come to a close
April 8, 2026
From March 25th to 27th, the prestigious setting of Palazzo Tassoni Estense hosted the eighth edition of the Restoration and Cultural Heritage Days. The event confirmed its status as one of the most significant national appointments, recording high attendance from professionals, industry experts, students, and researchers interested in the new frontiers of innovation, conservation, and the enhancement of the built environment.
Promoted by the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara in collaboration with numerous partners, including the Technopole, the event featured conferences, exhibitions, and symposia, serving as a preview for the upcoming “Restauro - Salone Internazionale” (International Exhibition of Restoration), to be held this coming May.
March 25th served as a central moment for scientific and institutional exchange, attracting a wide audience of experts. The conference “Research and Innovation on Built Heritage” was moderated by Professor Marcello Balzani, Scientific Director of the TekneHub Laboratory. The day concluded with the awards ceremony for the 11th edition of the Domus Restoration and Conservation Fassa Bartolo Prize, a highly attended event celebrating excellence in interventions on pre-existing structures. Furthermore, the Cultural Heritage Sector of the Emilia-Romagna Region presented the EGIDA PSEM project, dedicated to developing digital platforms for museum security.
On March 26th, the focus shifted to professional practice with the conference "Designing Amidst Historical Pre-existences," featuring internationally renowned architects Gonzalo Byrne and Werner Tscholl. In the afternoon, the volume "Gusto della varietas e circolazione di modelli. Ferrara estense e altri contesti" was presented.
On March 27th, at the Ridotto of the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara, the event paid tribute to the architect Vieri Quilici, retracing his thoughts and works in a meeting that saw significant participation from the architectural community.
The Restoration Days thus confirm their role as a showcase of excellence for sharing expertise and developing new projects, with an outlook increasingly oriented toward sustainability and the future of our cultural heritage.
The Ferrara Tecnopolo wishes to thank all the speakers and the many attendees whose active participation contributed to the success of this initiative.
