Innovation at the Ferrara Technopole during National Universities Day
17 March 2026
To celebrate National Universities Day on Friday 20 March 2026, the Department of Engineering at the University of Ferrara and the Ferrara Technopole are opening their doors to the public for an event dedicated to exploring virtual reality and applied research.
The initiative, entitled "Challenges in VR", will take place at the IN4 Laboratory of the Ferrara Technopole, located within the Science and Technology Park at Via Saragat, 1.
The event aims to demonstrate how immersive technologies are transforming not only academic research but also industrial applications and everyday life, encouraging the dialogue between science and society that has always been at the heart of the Technopole's mission.
The afternoon programme: the welcome reception for participants will begin at 2.30 pm in the lobby of the main building of the Science and Technology Park (“Cathedral”). Following this, from 3.00 pm to 5.30 pm, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in various interactive challenges with prizes, led by department researchers:
Spatialised audio and acoustics: experiences in the “Diamond Room”, a high-tech space designed for immersive sound reproduction
Automotive and driving simulation: visitors will be able to test a driving simulator with a VR headset in on-board mode for a virtual lap in the Formula Student single-seater, designed by the Ferrara Squadra Corse team at Unife
