Open Doors at the Scientific and Technological Center
October 15, 2025
Find yourself at the heart of scientific research, experience the technologies of the future firsthand, listen to the sounds of silence in an anechoic chamber, observe the stars in a planetarium, or discover the secrets of mathematics and physics.
"Open Doors at the Scientific and Technological Center" returns this year. This traditional event opens the doors of the University of Ferrara's laboratories to schools, families, and the public, offering a unique opportunity to experience firsthand the science that takes shape every day in Unife's research facilities.
The initiative will take place from October 14 to 18, 2025, at the Scientific and Technological Center at Via Saragat 1. It will involve the Departments of Physics and Earth Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science of the University of Ferrara, along with the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and the Ferrara Technology Center, with the patronage of the Municipality of Ferrara.
Over the five days, faculty and researchers will interactively illustrate the University's main areas of scientific research, leading visitors through experiments, demonstrations, and cutting-edge instrumentation.
A direct and engaging way to learn about the work that drives Unife's Science and Technology Center and to introduce young and old to the world of science.
The program features two distinct itineraries:
The Junior itinerary, designed for girls and boys aged 7 to 10 (with an accompanying adult), features scientific experiments designed to stimulate curiosity and wonder. The itinerary also includes guided tours of the Full HD Planetarium for an immersive experience among stars and planets.
The Senior itinerary, designed for girls, boys, and adults (aged 11 and up), allows visitors to tour the laboratories and observe the scientific instruments in action.
Great anticipation is for the HEPscape Room, a new addition for 2025, an interactive experience dedicated to the physics of particle accelerators. Through a map, clues, and challenges, participants of all ages will discover the secrets of high-energy physics and understand how elementary particles are studied.
Among the most popular attractions is the return of the Anechoic Chamber, part of the Ferrara Technopole, a space that allows visitors to experience "absolute silence" and witness the most advanced acoustic measurements.
