Teknehub and the new managers for the built heritage

27 July, 2023

Fabiana Raco (Principal Investigator), Marcello Balzani, Federica Maietti, Luca Rossato, Fabio Planu, Martina Suppa, Gabriele Giau, Dario Rizzi, professors and researchers of the Department of Architecture and afferents of the TekneHub laboratory of the Technopole of Ferrara are part of the project CLOEMC VI - Common Learning Outcomes for European Managers in Construction VI funded by the Erasmus + Program, Key Action 2 - Cooperation Parternship in Higher Education and some of them are back from Denmark where they recently participated in the second project meeting held in the first week of July.

The project starts from an analysis of the value chain of intervention on the existing built heritage, which is characterized by increasing complexity in the European context and therefore requires constant updating of the competencies, skills and knowledge, of all actors in the chain. Integrated digital technologies, key enabling technologies (sensors, robotics, machine and deep learning, Big Data, digital twin), collaborative platforms for the management, representation and visualization of intervention scenarios are tools increasingly involved in complex decision-making processes; vulnerability and risk management and assessment; rehabilitation and refunctionalization interventions; resilient cities and communities.

CLOEMC VI is part of this context and within the framework of the EU Directive 89/48/EWG on professions, which regulates the recognition, promotion and certification of construction sector qualifications by international associations and organizations. The aim of the project is, therefore, the implementation of the Directive in the direction of establishing an appropriate European system of comparison, certification and mutual recognition of managerial qualifications in the construction sector. The profile of the training of the building construction manager, responsible for cooperation, in the direction of the integrated and collaborative project, in the construction sector in the EU has developed differently in different countries.

The appearance on the European market of the Construction Managers' Library (CML) is intended to support the definition of a broad compendium of innovative managerial knowledge for the construction sector and to promote dialogue on the adaptation of the training profile to the needs of the relevant value chains. In order to combat unemployment and increase the level of managerial knowledge in the construction sector, it is necessary to train profiles with qualifications and skills that support business management and the resulting increase in specialized employment in integrated knowledge areas.

The project, which started last December, involves a broad international partnership composed not only of our professors and researchers but also of German, Icelandic, and Turkish experts coordinated by Warsaw Polytechnic University.

TekneHub is involved in the implementation of all the manuals for Building Construction Managers envisaged as outputs of the project, but especially coordinates the M34 digital twin in construction manual and expresses its expertise in the M36 environmental impacts of earthquakes and mining for contruction managers.
