Interno Verde 2023: Terra &Acqua Tech presents green projects
05 Septemebr 2023
Also this year, Terra&Acqua Tech laboratory is participating in Interno Verde, the festival promoted by the Association ilturco, which has been opening green spaces to the city since 2016, with the aim of enhancing Ferrara's architectural and botanical heritage.
This year's event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10, in which our University joins with the opening to the public of the Botanical Garden, the Cloister of S. Maria della Grazie and Palazzo Trotti Mosti, will be joined by the participation of the Terra&Acqua Tech Laboratory of our Technopole with the demonstration of the results of various research, prototypes and patents that aim to improve the sustainability of the environment in which we live, reduce pollution and promote more nature-friendly cultivation methods.
On Sunday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Cloister of S. Maria delle Grazie (entrance at 70 Mortara Street), visitors will be able to visit the award-winning Navarra-Bragliani Pharmacy and attend presentations by researchers from the Terra&Acqua Tech lab.
Specifically, the program includes the following talks:
- Presentation of the Ferrara Technopole and Terra&Acqua Tech laboratory.
- Biofumigation a natural tool to improve soil quality and decrease pathogens.
Presentation of the results of the laboratory's collaboration with regional farms regarding an experiment to optimize conservation agriculture practices.
This agronomic technique was developed to address the reduction of chemical use in agriculture and to decrease pollution from pesticide inputs, while improving the production and accumulation of organic matter in soils, in line with the principles of sustainable agriculture. A technique that can also be used to counter the effects that intensive agriculture has had on soil quality, which has often led to problems of compaction, erosion, loss of organic matter and fertility.
- Circularity and sustainability of the production chain: from hops not only beer!
Inhibition of mycotoxin production in cereal crops with spent hop essential oil after brewing.
Presentation by the Research Unit "Sustainable Recovery and Valorization of Biomasses" supported by a demonstration of an essential oil distiller and examples of finished products (essential oils and aromatic water) from projects financed by funds from the Emilia-Romagna Region.
- Healthy soil. Method for treating organic substances and making a fertilizer.
Talk by the Water Resources, Environmental Geochemistry and Geomaterials Research Unit presenting a patented method related to the use of geomaterials such as zeolite-rich volcanic tuffs to improve soil health and productivity.
